What makes Roocci unique?

Roocci is about Australian animals
Australian animals hold a special place in my heart because they are so unique. Roocci is all about kids having quality Australian artwork on the wall that captures the unique spirit and character of Australian animals. I hope that through this that children can develop an appreciation of native animals from a young age and providing years of joy with great storytelling opportunity for parents. Roocci art is not just for kids. Most Roocci artwork appeals to anyone who loves animals and has a sense of humour :)

Roocci bright colours are good for baby
Have you ever wondered why children's toys are so bright and multicoloured? Studies show that bright colours are much better appreciated by kids than browns or greys. Roocci art reflects the bright Australian colours which are proven to stimulate for baby and brain development. Google this topic or read about it here:

The Artist is Roocci
Roocci is able to continue to draw apon her love for animals and create new artworks monthly which means and a constant stream of new artworks and incredible variety. There is no limit to the variety of artworks and the ability to create something unique in the form of original art or murals. You can speak directly to the artist, get exactly what you want, even visit the artist at the private working studio-gallery.

Not mass-produced!
All Roocci art is unique - no mass produced or imported ideas, just original Australian art straight from the artist. Your artwork is produced with the utmost love, care and quality to reflect the ideals of the artist, not a large company. While other businesses may import artwork, Roocci is the artist and creates all the work herself and her reputation for quality is her business. Roocci is constantly finding ways to better her artwork - not cut corners.

Only the finest quality
Roocci produce only the finest quality art, prints and prints on canvas. Original art is painted with the finest professional acrylics available - something which is reflected in Roocci's trademark bright depth colours not achievable with student grade paints.

Roocci only uses the finest quality inks, canvas and stretching methods and is UV, water and fade resistant. Imported canvases are ruined with even a drop of rain. The artwork hanging outside Roocci Gallery has seen numerous storms, wind, rain and temperature extremes and still looks exactly the same brightness as when it was first made. Roocci uses quality REGROWTH pine stretcher bars, ensuring that the wood is regrowth pine is the only choice for the environment.

Loved by the young and the young at heart

Kids will not outgrow this art. Much artwork is created specifically for younger kids and will need to be updated after a few years whilst most art by Roocci appeals to all ages.

Q&A with the Artist

What was the inspiration behind Roocci?

I have always been an avid animal lover and remembered every detail of the artworks that used to hang in my room as a child. I am passionate about Australian kids having images in their rooms that are Australian and that inspires them to appreciate animals like I did. Everyone loves the bright and cheeky little animal characters that I paint.

How do you say Roocci?

Roocci is pronounced like Gucci. Roocci designer Australian art - a fun fusion of the Aussie "Roo" and designer products.

What motivates you paint?

I paint that place where beauty, innocence and laughter lives. Art, mirrors life in that it can reflect the light and dark and every shade in between. Roocci art brings out the child within!

What inspires your art?

My inspiration for happiness is from animals and our incredible Aussie environment. My partner Gareth and my dog Charlie are daily inspirations.

Who taught you?

My lecturer at art college over 13 years ago was a brilliant artist - the late Brian Neibauer. I would need more than a paragraph to delve into the beauty and joy of his art. While he is no longer with us, his last artistic phase was spent with us teaching his amazing - almost religious - theories about colour and light. Brian's masterful, exciting drawing classes are something I will remember with great joy for the rest of my life. "you want to be an artist, be an artist!" I am taught daily by my eternal teachers - creation - colour is a blessing from Australia. If it were not for her animals I would have no medium through which to express my love and wonder of them.

Where did you start with Roocci as a business?

The arts and crafts markets at Manly, Sydney. My first art studio was a rented room in a dental surgery. I think the artwork and the surgery worked pefectly together with terrified wide eyed patients walking past my studio caught off guard by my wide eyed animals staring back at them.

What is it about 'the eyes' that makes your art so unique?

For as long as I can remember I have painted animals with big eyes, - particularly emus. When I was at primary school in the mid 80's, my dad came home with a Commodore 64. I created, in the Paint program, a business card that had a little emu with big eyes and the words "Tanya's Amusing Emus". I can't believe that I am now basically doing the same thing as a career.

When did you start making a living from your art?

I think there has and still is been a steady progression rather than one big event that but definitely my art exposure grew after the commission at the Westmead Private Hospital - that really brought the biggest public gathering of my work together with 40 original pieces.

What is the future for Roocci?

I would love to start making Roocci linens and textiles to go with the wall art. I would love to see Roocci art in every childs bedroom in Australia. I'd like to think that when kids grow up they will look back fondly at their first roocci animal artwork and sees it as part of their heritage. I'd like to think the art will have contributed to their appreciation of animals. If you are interested in new artworks please join my mailing list here
